Just a quick view into my life. Feel free to comment on any of the posts listed here. Hopefully I can come up with some profound thoughts or something (but I doubt it--lol). Yeah, and I'll also try not to be too controversial. Haha. Word.

Wrapping Things Up

Well, I figured I would update a little sooner than I normally do. What has been going on with me lately?

"The Chronicles of Narnia" was a very good movie. Unlike alot of the other movies I have heard in the past that are said to be linked to Christian themes ("Lord of the Rings" and "The Matrix"), the parallels by C.S. Lewis were much more obvious. It's hard to describe all of the analogies on here, but I'd be interested to hear some of the ones that people saw. The new Shenango Valley Cinema is pretty nice as well.

Tonight I am teaching the teens again. Friday evening is the MPB Christmas party at the Country Club in Meadville. I'll be flying solo, but it should be fun anyways. In addition to the Christmas bonus check, maybe I'll win a prize (I could really use a DVD player).

I am still holding off on the "Bless the Broken Road" discussion, but I will get to it. I have a few days off next week and the following one for Christmas. It will be nice to get things in order before tax season starts.

Speaking of the end of the year, be on the look-out for my Year-End Awards (coming December 31, 2005)!

Good luck with your lesson tonight! We're going Christmas caroling tonight... Fun, fun! LOL. (It's not bad, but YOU try getting a bunch of jr. hi. kids interested in caroling! It's hopeless!)

I'll let you know what I think of the movie when I see it, but it looks like it might not be anytime soon... Trying to coordinate schedules with my friends is another hopeless activity...

God bless! <>< <>< <><

My only response is regarding the films (as usual). The Matrix doesn't really have a Christian theme, as it is basically a Marxist film (as you know, communism abounds in Hollywood), but the Christ-figure is a popular story line (and generally the one exhibited whenever there is a "hero" involved). It is one of the 3 themes that underlies every book written in modern times. J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were friends, and some of C.S. Lewis rubbed off on him, but his images are nowhere near as apparent as Lewis'. To his credit though, I was having Lord of the Rings flashbacks during Narnia, so some of the themes stuck. I would say that Tolkien used 2 Christ figures in the Lord of the Rings, hence why it doesn't seem so apparent, there was only one Jesus. Ok, I'm done. My sick fascination with movies has become all too apparent again. :)

Wow I totally missed your political questions Bill... Filibuster is when the senate blocks a bill from getting an up or down vote period. Some of those nominees the president chose for different positions were blocked from getting an up or down vote so they had no chance of getting through at all. Did you hear about that when it was going on in the news? Here is the exact definition "Informal term for any attempt to block or delay Senate action on a bill or other matter by debating it at length, by offering numerous procedural motions, or by any other delaying or obstructive actions." Now I have to admit I have no idea what gerrymander was so i looked it up and here is that definition lol. apportionment of electoral districts in such a way as to give the political party in power an advantage in electing its representatives. Gerrymandering can be accomplished by dispersing an opponent’s supporters across so many electoral districts that they will be in the minority everywhere or, alternatively, concentrating them into a small number of districts to minimize their electoral impact. Gerrymandering sometimes results in electoral districts of curious shapes. ok hope that helps and sorry I didnt notice the questions sooner... lol

I finally got to see "Chronicles of Narnia"! Yay! C.S. Lewis is an awesome writer! I want to see it again & read the book(s); there was a lot of stuff packed into that movie that deserves a much closer (second) look... I never saw "Lord of the Rings" or "The Matrix"... The beginning was a little weird; I didn't quite understand it at first because I'm not a history buff, but the ending was totally sweet! I'm not sure how I'd respond if I weren't a Christian; I'd probably just say it was a good movie. However, as a Christian, I understand the meaning, and I can say that it was an awesome movie! The analogies & symbolisms were amazing! I give it 2 thumbs-up! :)
