Just a quick view into my life. Feel free to comment on any of the posts listed here. Hopefully I can come up with some profound thoughts or something (but I doubt it--lol). Yeah, and I'll also try not to be too controversial. Haha. Word.

Poll #1: Cologne

I need your help. I move from my last post which was serious and emotional in nature to one that is simply fun (well, at least it should be). From baring my inner feelings to looking for some light-hearted advice. I've decided to involve the readers in this one, so let me know what you think.

I noticed the other day that my bottle of cologne is only about half full. For those of you who don't really know me, a bottle of cologne usually lasts me about two or three years (I know, 'tis a sad fact--lol). That is so because I only wear cologne for special occasions. So one can conclude that special occasions have been few and far between for me as of late. LOL. Because I am so out of touch with the latest trends, I am turning to you--my faithful Blogger followers--to instruct me in a cologne choice that will make me smooth once again. LOL. My entire social life depends upon this decision!!! Haha. JK.

Here is some background information:
-My current bottle of cologne is "Cool Water".
-I have worn "Tommy" and "Curve" in the past.
-Money is not a factor in this decision.

One last side note: If you are going to back a certain fragrance, try not to let me know that it smelled good on a past or current boyfriend/spouse. (Unless, of course, that past boyfriend was me. LOL. In that case, though, I would probably end up getting the same bottle I have now--which is what we are trying not to do here. Hey, we accountants need to mix things up a little. LOL.)

Let me hear it!

The Dreamer in Me

For just a moment, I’ve decided to put aside all of these posts about sports, me running, recurring events at the church, or having a busy week at work. I’ll try my best here to step out of the mundane-ness of things you are so accustomed to hearing from me and take a chance at sharing my thoughts, feelings, and those things that lie just beneath the surface on the inside. So, I’ll break up the following entry into my dreams (which may or may not be realistic) and goals (which I consider to be realistic). How’s that for organizing things? LOL.

My dreams:
-Write a book and get it published
-Play as part of a worship team
-Take a vacation without any set destination--just travelling around at will and stopping and visiting places that catch my interest
-Become ordained in the Church of the Nazarene
-Perform “Jaws of Life” with the guitar
-Teach college-level courses or give lectures to young adult audiences
-Write a song and have it recorded
-Be in two places at once (Haha, Mandy Moore in “A Walk to Remember”. Just had to throw that in there. LOL.)

My goals:
-Move out and get my own apartment in April 2007 (Now the first question I always get is “Why then?”. My quick answer, “Because I said so.” LOL. Maybe some people don’t understand me, but I’ve always set goals for myself and then set out to achieve them. I understand the need to get out on my own. By April 2007, I will have met my financial goals in terms of the amount of money I would like to have saved up before moving on to another phase of my life. I await the day that I’ll have my own place. It’ll be fun and I look forward to it.)
-Build a house. I don’t have an exact time frame for this one yet, because I see the purchase of a house as a decision for two people to make. (I’ve always said there are four things I’d like to have in my house. OK, since I am just sharing all of my secrets now, here are my essentials: 1). A fireplace – I’ve never had one in my house growing up. It would be nice to have one. There’s just something romantic about a fireplace too. 2). A hot tub – If you don’t think relaxation is an important part of my life, then you obviously don’t know me very well, LOL. 3). An office/library – Full of lots of books for learning and a place to take care of business/financial matters 4.) A walk-in closet for the wife – Yeah, there’s just going to be something special about that girl I choose. I don’t know too many girls who would turn down a walk-in closet. It’s not like I wouldn’t give her the world anyways.)
-Get married, have kids, and live the married life. I don't know exactly when this phase will begin either. Isn't that what makes it exciting? LOL. (My pastor tells me that I am the guy that girls will love and wish they had when they are in their 30s. LOL. He says by that time they’ll probably be on their second failing marriage or will currently be in a marriage in which they are unhappy. I guess I don’t immediately know what to say when I hear that statement—it can be upsetting or sad for me to hear. Either way, I think there is a certain amount of truth to what he said.)
-Get a cell phone (Haha. Yeah, one day.)

Well, let me know what you think. I'm sure there are more goals and dreams that I am forgetting, but this is all I could come up with for now. I’ll update again when I get a chance. Peace.

I Thessalonians 5:23 - May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And Then the Bottom Fell Out...

I guess I am numb to it now. I don't understand how Pitt lost to Ohio University this weekend (no, not Ohio State--Ohio U.). What in the world was up with Tyler Palko? I wonder if it is Dave Wannstedt's new offensive system. Running the ball with :29 left on the Ohio 12 and down only 3 points? It should have been the other way around. Take a couple chances at the end zone to win the game 14-10 in regulation. Please, just let Tyler throw the ball down the field! We were used to the conservative play calling with Walt Harris. Maybe they should have never let Walt Harris go.
Sharon (my alma mater) was beat up by Hickory High School on Friday also, 33-13. The Tigers have lost to their arch-rival the last three years now. Before that, I only ever remember Sharon losing to Hickory once in the previous 18 or so years.
The Twins pretty much proved they aren't going to make a push in the AL wild card race this year. If you can't beat the Indians with your ace Santana on the mound, you are in trouble. I wish management would get some bats for that team next year.
So in terms of sports, the weekend was pretty bad. Easily forgettable. It happens. LOL.
Well, I have the Bill Mallonee concert to look forward to on Monday. I am taking my co-worker Heather down (who I am slowly getting hooked on his "realistic song-writing") and meeting Myer in Pittsburgh.
On a different note, I think I am the last person on the planet without a cell phone. I guess I don't have much use for one. The reception always seems to be poor with those things too. It's almost like you have to hop in a vehicle to get a good enough signal to actually hear the person you are talking to! How ghetto is that?
Take care and talk to everyone later.

Looking Ahead

Well, today is September 8th and it's my dad's birthday.

I've had a cold since the beginning of the week. I think it has something to do with being in the dunking booth on Monday at Buhl Day. The water was dirty! LOL. It was like black by the time I sat on the seat (since I was the last one to go for the day). They put chlorine and stuff in it. I guess it would have helped if the weather was a little warmer too. Couple that with running at night and I have a stuffy nose and cough. I hate being sick in the summer. It is one of those things that just shouldn't happen.

Well, tomorrow night is Pitt vs. Ohio University on ESPN2. We should get a win this week. I don't think I have anything planned for Saturday (the last time that happens for a couple months). Monday is the Bill Mallonee concert in Pittsburgh. Tuesday is a board meeting and Friday/Saturday is a quiz meet at our church. Hopefully our team will be ready.

Ugh!

Well, Saturday's season opener was exciting for only one quarter. What a disappointment! The Pitt defense simply forgot to show up. Typical of any Pitt/Notre Dame game, two fights broke out in the stands. Don't worry, everyone, I wasn't injured. LOL. Regardless, Brady Quinn in still a punk!

The rest of the weekend was interesting. We had a Sunday school picnic at church on Sunday and I was completely sleep deprived by that point (from the game the night before). I was still up late on Sunday (went to Applebee's with the Sunday school class) and over to my cousin's house for a movie. Resisting sleep, I stayed up talking. I am kind of curious now. Why are girls sweeter when they are tired? Does anyone know the reason for that? Is it because the sarcasm goes away? Pleasant, very pleasant.

Monday had me over at my grandparents' house for a cookout. I headed over to the dunking booth at Buhl Day from 3:30-4:30. I sure did get my exercise from climbing out of the tank and back into the seat. It was pretty fun. I'll have to get some pictures posted when they come in. You feel bad for all those cute litte kids who can't hit the target, so you are like, "Go ahead, you can push the circle". And back into the water I go. LOL. Some friends from GCC came up to dunk me. After my time there was over, we headed back to our grandparents' to finish off the leftovers. One thing about my family is that they force you to eat. LOL. My brother Shawn and his wife Kristin came, so it was cool to see them. The bunch ended the evening at Frank and Krista's house, where we fired up the campfire for some smores. I have to admit I make a mean "Mallo Cup smore" out of the coconut marshmallows (double chocolate is the key--lol). Word.

Well, I am out for now. Talk to everyone later.
